France To Celebrate World Cup Win With National Strike

President Macron of France has announced that the nation will celebrate victory in the World Cup in Russia yesterday with a co-ordinated day of industrial action. The date has yet to be set, but will be determined once the point of  maximum inconvenience for any  UK citizens daft enough to holiday in the country has been determined.

A spokesperson for the government said “Obviously 20% of the country is on strike at any one time anyway,  but there are few opportunities for us to all to come together and celebrate our national identity. There are some air traffic controllers and baggage handlers at small regional airports who have gone nearly  six months now without striking and this World Cup win is the ideal opportunity for them to celebrate in the traditional way with everyone else”

The spokesperson was at pains to reassure us that the action is  unlikely to affect the level of contempt and gallic disdain experienced by visitors, which will continue as normal throughout the strike day.
