Remake of Hancock’s Half Hour slammed by critics

The remake of iconic BBC radio and TV comedy Hancock’s Half Hour was branded a disappointment this morning as critics queued up to slam the show. As the latest episode aired live last night, featuring original star Tony Hancock’s long-lost nephew Matt, the rotten tomatoes were already coming in thick and fast.

“Although Hancock is capable of creating the air of despair and despondency that characterised his great uncle’s work, it’s simply lacking in laughs.” said Ted Rogers from The Times. While Roy Walker from The Sun was equally scathing of the supporting cast. “Quite frankly Chris Whitty should be prosecuted for having a misleading name and as for Patrick Vallance, I suppose we should expect nothing more from a man named after an item of bedding than to send us to sleep. Neither of them are fit to lace the boots of either Sid James or Kenneth Williams.”

As The Bugle went to press the future of the show was still in the balance, with rumours that as a result of both popularity and content, it might be moved to the graveyard slot.
