Starmer expecting tough day as Labour leadership contest enters swimwear round

Labour leadership hopeful, Sir Keir Starmer, was expecting a tough day this morning as the contest to replace Jeremy Corbyn entered the swimwear round. Sir Keir had already successfully negotiated the eveningwear round and satisfied the judges in an interview in which he expressed a heartfelt desire for world peace. But many observers fear the swimwear section may be a step too far for the former Barrister.

“To stand any chance at all, I think he needs to stick to a one-piece” an insider told The Bugle. “I know it’s 2020 and sexism should be a thing of the past, but at the end of the day, the judging panel is made up mainly of men, and none of them have been to public school, so he’s at a big disadvantage.”

The Bugle understands that this may be the last year the Labour party include the swimwear round in the selection process. Many older members are still suffering flashbacks to the leadership contest in 1976 when Dennis Healey and Michael Foot turned up in the same high-legged creation from C&A.
