West Ham Fan Plants Flag After Five Day Unsupported Trek To Reach Pitch

A West Ham fan has created history by reaching the London stadium pitch after a 5 day unsupported trek from his seat near the rear of the Bobby Moore stand.

Grant Mitchell from Walford,  set off on Monday from row ZZ64 with the aim of reaching the centre circle by Friday. However, bad weather interrupted his progress somewhere around the seats where you can see with binoculars rather than a telescope, and his arrival unfortunately coincided with the Hammers going 2-0 down in their premiership game against Burnley.

A disorientated and dehydrated Grant, who lost several stones in weight during the trek,  was surrounded by players and officials as he attempted to plant his flag in the centre circle.

“I know some people thought it was some kind of protest,”  Grant told the Bugle as he recovered at home, “but I just wanted to prove that it was possible for an ordinary bloke to reach the playing surface without transport or special equipment. I know how Amundsen felt now.”
