Pokemon…Oh no!

A Canklow man has sent out a warning to other gaming enthusiasts after his obsession with the Pokemon Go craze almost landed him in hot water.

Darren Dick from Town Street was playing the game, in which players use their mobile phones to hunt down and capture imaginary monsters in their locality, when the game suggested that a particularly elusive Geodude might be located in a detached five bedroom property on Woodfoot Rd in the exclusive area of Moorgate.

Without thinking of the consequences, Darren followed the trail and entered the property in search of the creature. He says that he only came to his senses when police arrived, by which time he had already searched all the bedroom cupboards, under the beds, and even those fake tins people use to hide cash in the kitchen.

“I don’t know what came over me” said Darren who has only recently started playing the game after working away for 6 months in an area with very limited internet access. “I think I just got carried away. I didn’t even find any monsters.”

South Yorkshire police confirmed that they were called to an address on Woodfoot Rd in the early hours of last Tuesday after reports of a man entering the property via a rear patio door while the owners were on holiday, and that investigations are ongoing.
