Ageing Canklow Woman Has Twins

A Canklow woman who thought she would never conceive was celebrating this week after giving birth to twin boys. Tara Tonks, 23 from Town Street unexpectedly went in to labour on a pool table at Rotherham Trades Club while competing in a charity arm wresting event last Thursday, and became the oldest first time mum in the area for over 30 years

“I had no idea I was pregnant ” she told us, “I thought it was wind. I saw all my mates having kids and I thought it was never going to happen. You’ve no idea what it’s like to finish school and still not bought your first pram. People were pointing at me in the street”

Tara, a big fan of the Beckhams since childhood had tried everything before finally getting pregnant with little Nova and Saxo. “At first I thought it was just the lads off our street” she said “But I had no more luck on Rotherview Rd.” In desperation Tara had a bunk up with a car mechanic from Munsborough and it seems to have done the trick. “I don’t know whether it was  the fact that he’s not a close relative or it’s because he switched the car engine off, but it worked” she said while preparing a roll up.

Tara knows that being an older mother won’t be all plain sailing though.

“I know I’m going to be self conscious when I’m dropping them off at school and people think they’re my grandkids but I don’t care.” she told us. “I’ve bought some stretchy black leggings, a Primark hoody and I’ve scraped my hair back into a tight greasy pony tail. At last I feel like I fit in.”
