Facelift Patient Left Looking Like Stroke Victim After Cheque Bounces

A Ravenfield Grandmother says she has been left too embarrassed to leave the house after a facelift operation was dramatically abandoned half way through.

Irene Potter 55, booked in for the surgery at the NewYou Clinic in Manchester three weeks ago, and paid in advance by cheque for the two-hour procedure.

“I went down for surgery at 9.00 a.m., “ she told us” and woke up at around midday. A nurse came to see me and said they’d only done the left-hand side of my face and the surgeon would be round to explain later.”

Irene says that the surgeon, a Dr Callderwood-Brown, came to see her mid-afternoon to say that the clinic had received notification at 10.00 a.m. that her cheque had bounced and that as a result he had had effectively downed tools mid operation.

“When I looked in the mirror, it looked like I’d had a bloody stroke “ said a furious Irene, “One side of my face is about half an inch higher than the other. It just looks ridiculous and I daren’t leave the house. They say they’ll complete the job when I pay in full, but I’ve had some unexpected bills and for now, I’m stuck like this.”

A spokesperson for the clinic confirmed that the procedure had been halted on receipt of notification from the bank that Mrs Potters cheque had bounced, and gave us the following statement “Whilst we have every sympathy for Mrs Potter, we’re not a charity. Past experience tells us that the best way to ensure getting paid in these circumstances is to leave the procedure unfinished. To assist Mrs Potter with getting the money together to complete the surgery, we have now offered her some part time work as a one woman before-and-after model.”

This isn’t the first time the NewYou Clinic has hit the headlines in similar circumstances. In 2015, a woman called Tracy Small from Stockport came forward to say she had been left with one breast twice the size of the other after her bank failed to honour a cheque, and that she had also been offered similar part time modelling work. At the time, a spokesperson for the clinic said they expected her to work her tits off.
